Grasping Ideas Through Existing Music Videos

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gS9o1FAszdk&safe=active

Camera:
The video starts with a handheld camera and a tracking shot of his feet, which makes the audience feel as though in the video. By making the audience feel as though in the video, the audience is intrigued and they can then relate to the narrative of the story. A dissimliar feature is used of quick burst of shots then after the audience see fast cuts to show the feet walking and the singer looking around. The main singer is singing throughout the narrative while still acting. As it goes to the band shots, they are in an isolated area, which helps to split the narrative from the band. The camera uses a wide shot to capture and show the whole band to the audience. It changes to the close up shots of the main singer which emphasises the emotion and feelings that he feels. Then mid shots are used on the lead guitarist, to show the audience the guitarist playing to the song, which seems to be a convention in many music videos.

Costume:
All of the members of the band are wearing black and white, which is kept to throughout the video. It seems to be a convention of the band, as they are the colours used in other videos that I have also looked at. By wearing black and white could highlight the type of song they are singing for example the song has two narratives by using black as being bad and white being a good element.
